WeLoveServers Takeover Tuguhost

WeLoveServers Takeover Tuguhost

Last month I received a mail from Tuguhost stating WeLoveServers has bought Tuguhost so they are handling support and everything from now on. I hadn't heard about WeLoveServers hosting service before so I was curious about how think would end. I found they have staff members at WebHostingTalks forum, which is an very good sign. Also there were bad reviews about them. All negative reviews I found looks more like clients fault than providers.

Tuguhost used to a good cheap web hosting provider with good uptime and even I have had an VPS with them. They had a great Promo offer last year for $20 per year VPS. I still have it and it's pretty good for that price. But back in February it had some down times and things got worse in March. They was a week long down time and Negative reviews started flooding in from angry clients.

I was really happy to see this merge because I had a feeling Tuguhost original owners are no longer able to handle things properly. But usual problem with this type of merge is clients get suspicious and start having problems. Fortunately in this case I think all Tuguhost clients were glad about merge and WeLoveServers hosting service has lived up to expectations. I haven't noticed any downtimes since then.

I have to remind everyone to make sure take backups no matter how good your hosting provider is. Sometimes things happen and Providers could go bankrupt or service could crash. Rather than blaming hosting providers later or regretting about it you should take timely backups.

Magmahost Sending Ghost Invoices

I used Magmahost in early 2008 for couple of months and suddenly everything was gone and couldn't login. Later I found the company was sold to another and then there was so chaos and sites were down most of the time rather than up. I only had couple of Macro sites there so I just moved to another cheap web hosting provider and forgot about the whole drama. I think you can still find longs topics at Namepros.com members were complaining about this company. It was a 1 Dollar hosting company and I never thought wasting time for complaining about a company like that is worth. But they were kept sending invoices which pissed me because even after e-mailing them I don't use their service anymore still they continue doing it.

Anyway They stopped it after another more email addressing about the matter bit strongly and I remember getting those invoices again.Another mail stopped it and now again after few years I'm getting their invoices again. I just don't get it. Did someone else again bought this crappy company and decided to send invoices to everyone in the mailing list ? Still I shouldn't receive invoices because last time they said they removed my mail from the list!

This is what happen when you are going to cheapest web hosting services you find. Not all most most of these services are a waste of time and money.

Hetrixbyte Hosting Review

Hetrixbyte might not be a popular name but they do provide really good budget hosting packages. I bought a shared hosting package from them and now I have had it for over one month without any problem at all. Haven't noticed any downtime and support is very good.

It's really important to have a good uptime and support even for a cheap web hosting service. Hetrixbye hosting provider has both these qualities.  They only offer shared hosting and reseller hosting packages at the moment and great for those who look for cheap web hosting providers to host their Tier 1 web sites or run a blog network in different IP addresses. They offer IP address too. You can get one for $1.99 per month or $19.90 per year.
Their Shared hosting packages start from $2.99 and you get 1GB Space, 100GB transfer and unlimited addon domains, mysql databases etc. Also Hetrixbute hosting do have both Fantastico and Softaculous.

Another good news is they do allow legal adult content to host in their servers. Nothing illegal or not allowed by US law. But it's not easy to find cheap web hosting will allow adult sites these days. Not many Adult web hosting services out there.

I couldn't find if they offer cheap offshore hosting or not since there's no mention about it in their web site so you can stay they only have US servers. But if you want a decent web hosting service for low cost then it's worth giving a try.

TuguHost Shared Hosting

https://tuguhost.com/whmcs/aff.php?aff=070

I have posted about TuguHost before and it's been over a month now since I bought a cheap vps from them. So far I haven't had a single problem there even thought I haven't push the limits yet. I don't have to write a TuguHost review about vps here but I think if you are looking for a cheap but reliable shared hosting service then you can check their cheap shared hosting packages. From those web hosting packages I bought with BlackFriday discount prices they are one of the few with best uptime and speed. There are several reasons why I think you should try them,

  • Their shared hosting packages start from $2 per month. You can 99 Addon domains, unlimited My SQL databases, cPanel and Softcalculus, 2GB space and 20GB transfer for that. It's worth giving it a try with such a cheap price.
  • Uptime is 99% for last whole month for my vps. It's really important to have a really good uptime because it doesn't matter whatever the hosting package or type or if you and unimportant web sites there you don't want to see your sites down.
  • Support is important too because if they answer your questions or tickets when somethings wrong then it's pretty much useless even how cheap is the service. TguHost support is pretty good and those who I talked are friendly.
  • One if the really cool fact for those who are looking for cheap web hosting is they offer cheap offshore hosting too for same price! You can choose your server from several locations like US,Netherland,Germany,English And Singapore.
I think these points alone worth give them a try. This might sounds like promotion but I really do live let them have few more client if I can because I really enjoy their service. I don't know if their affiliate program is active but I thought use the url from that so I can track if anyone try them after reading my post. :)

You can check all their packages and offers >>  Here

I'll do another review about the vps when I start running few Wordpress blogs there. Then I can see how plugs work and how the servers handle those. Right now the price of Basic VPS package is $5 per month and $40 if you pay annually I think. But you can start from their cheap shared hosting packages and see how their uptime and support first.

Cheap Hosting Is Not Always Good

Cheap Hosting Is Not Always Good

Well last month I bought half dozen cheap shared hosting accounts from various web hosting providers with their Blackfriday offers. Most these offers are $1-2 per month hosting packages which I want to use for my T1 web sites. But almost all these cheap shared hosting accounts have small down times. Yesterday one of these had 2 down times first one hour and then 2 hours. It's okey since they are not for main web sites but if someone want to find cheapest web hosting providers or packages for their main web sites then make sure to to go for a good and reputed providers. Big providers like Godaddy and HostGator have nearly zero downtime but these hosting providers are way too expensive.

But there are good not so known web hosting providers who offer special discounts time to time. I noticed HudsonValleyHost having a 75% off offer for their shared hosting packages for Christmas. I don't know how long this discount offer will last but they are a really good provider. I do have a managed vps with them so no point of having a shared account otherwise I would take another since prices start from $0.75!

Beginner Package
Normally $2.99/mo -  (With Coupon): $0.75
5GB RAID-10 Protected Storage
50GB Monthly Bandwidth
Host 5 Websites

------------------------

Basic Package
Normally $5.95/mo - (With Coupon): $1.49
25 GB RAID-10 Protected Storage
250 GB Monthly Bandwidth
Host Unlimited Websites

------------------------

Couple Code is - xmas75shared -  Check all their offers >> Here <<

Their support and uptime is great. I have used them for over 2 years. Also They allow legal adult sites on their shared hosting packages.

ReliableCore Web Hosting Review

ReliableCore Web Hosting Review

I bought a shared web hosting account from ReliableCore.com last month when they offer this cool $4.95 a year shared hosting packages for Black friday. Yup time is very good and their support is fast too. But there is one major draw back for me.

They do not allow you to run JetPack plugin with your Wordpress. Or you can't run JetPack plugin at ReliableCore Web hosting. This is a major blow to me since most of my sites are Wordpress blogs and JetPack is one of the main plugins I use in every single Wordpress blog. Since they were not interesting to do anything about it I moved to all Wordpress blogs from there and left few static html sites.

Well after all it's like $5 for whole year so this should be a big deal unless you use Wordpress. I have bought several cheap web hosting packages for BlackFriday offers from different web hosting providers this is the only time I had a problem.

So I thought about writing a review of ReliableCore web hosting and give a heads up about it. There support is good and reply fast. Also uptime is very good. I think they have same offer for Chirstmas too if anyone interested. But if you want to run Wordpress blogs then this is not your Web hosting provider.

BlackFriday Web Hosting Deals

BlackFriday Web Hosting Deals

BlackFriday is great time for finding cheap web hosting deals. I wanted to buy few good but ultra cheap shared hosting accounts from various providers so I have keep my eyes peels for this. Also I was looking for good VPS deals. There are so many people who were offering mouth watering web hosting deals for both Shared and VPS accounting but I had to make sure I only buy from providers who have a better reputation..
If you are in market for cheapest web hosting deals then you can't find a better time than BlackFriday!

So I have several my own condition which I was search for these cheapest web hosting services. First to see if the provider has any negative reviews and why. This is important when you buy cheap hosting. Cheap means they have very little profit margin so you get less attention too. This is why I was search about Big companies with good offers. But I'm I found some small web hosting providers with really cool offers and they have been in this Web hosting field for a long time.

My price rage for shared hosting was $1 - $2. Yeah it's way too cheap but these accounts are not for big traffic sites. Also I was not looking for big stuff. My requirements were 15+ Addon domains, at least 1GB space, 10GB bandwidth, cPanel and other usual stuff like mail and mysql. You need to pay semi annually or annually for these accounts but that's something I liked too. It's not worth for hosting providers to collect a $1 every month and it's too troublesome for me too.

I was interesting in buying C class IP for each of my shared packages but it's not something practical or web hosting providers like. It doesn't worth the hassle since it  they won't make much profit from it. I found couple of web hosting providers who offer dedicated IPs with shared hosting for $1 - $3 per month per IP but I chose only one of them since the provider given a great offer and also service seems very good.

I bought four shared hosting accounts from different web providers and One very cheap VPS account. No point of buying too many same times since these take time to check and test. Also Christmas is coming so there will be more offers soon. I'll review and talk about each of these web hosting packages in later posts.

BlueHost Cheap Shared Web Hosting

Cheapest Web Hosting

If Godaddy and Hostgator are the most popular shared web hosting providers then BlueHost probably have the third place. They are not the cheapest web hosting provider out there but they have same price offers like Godaddy or Hostgator. Also they do have their own data centers and very good US based support staff. As to Wikipedia BlueHost is one of the 20 largest web hosting companies in the world and They have over 1.9+ million domains along with their sister companies HostMonster and FastDomain. In 2012 they had paid over 5 million USD for their affiliates so what kind of big user based they must have !

BlueHost only seems to have one shared web hosting place which gives you all you want. Unlimited Bandwidth, unlimited storage, hosting unlimited number of domains etc. and monthly fee is $3.99 if you pay annually. They are known for their high quality support and they do have 2 Toll Free 24/7 working phone numbers. Only problem I noticed is I'm not sure if they offer cPanel or they have their own custom control pannel like Godaddy.

They offer VPS too but those are not cheap VPS hosting. lowest vps package cost you 30$ per month and you ge 1core, 2Gb RAM, 30GB space and 1TB bandwidth. Well might be good for  those won't want to go through all the technical problems and let support to take care of everything.

Even though BlueHost is not the cheapest web hosting provider in the block I think their price is same as Godaddy Economy shared hosting package. Price is same and Maybe BlueHost is offering you cPanel too. If they do then I think they might be better provider than Godaddy. They do have good affiliate program too. Which offer $65 per sale. It's a nice commission and makes to want to make an account there too.  :)

Cheap Windows Web Hosting

Cheap Windows Web Hosting

If you are looking for Cheap Windows Web Hosting but in a solid web hosting providers then Both Godaddy and Hostgator provide windows hosting. at Godaddy Both Windows Hosting and Linux Hosting are same price all you have to do it choice which you want while filling online forms. But at Hostgator Windows Hosting is expensive than Linux Hosting. The Basic personal plan cost you $8 per month if you pay by month and $7 per month if you pay annually. There are another couple of good Windows Hosting providers like ASP.net but even they are expensive.

Unlike with Linux Hosting where most of the things are free and open source, You need to buy license every software in Windows Hosting. So it's a costly service for web hosting providers. Server license, SQL license and other small things. Microsoft never give anything for free. But  Some developers need Windows Hosting for .net frame based web sites and web applications. So they have to buy Windows web hosting even thought it's expensive. You need .net frame work and IIS web server to hosting these window based applications.

One of the biggest drawbacks in Windows Hosting is you can't use cPanel since it's written in PHP and made for Linux systems and My SQL. Also If you are running IIS then usually you can't run Apache or any other Linux / PHP based HTTP servers. Also Windows Hosting use My SQL or Oracle in high-end operations. No My SQL. So most common web applications like Wordpress,  Joomla or web forum scripts like VBulletin, SMF or myBB can't be run in windows Hosting because these are written in PHP. You need Linux Hosting for these.

For now when we talk about cheapest web hosting and Windows based hosting I think Godaddy is rank #1. They offer same price for both Windows and Linux packages and that's nice. There are lots of web hosting providers offer cheap Windows hosting but I'm not sure how they keep running their business with price under $5. Probably using resellers and I always prefer to use web hosting providers who use their own Data centers or dedicated servers. You don't get too many problems this way. Reason for most of cheap web hosting problems is these are run by providers who only has reseller accounts and they don't have a control over their servers. So they have to wait for server owners sort out things when there is problem with servers. This usually take long and make clients angry.

NameCheap Shared Web Hosting

NameCheap Shared Web Hosting

Since I have talked about Godaddy and hostgator bit too often as cheap hosting providers (they are not so cheap unless you want to run a forum) Someone anonymous why I don't mention anything about NameCheap shared web hosting packages. So I this little bit of digging and decided to make a post about their hosting packages.  Namecheap is more known as a Domain registration company than a web hosting provider. NameCheap Domain registration service is top notch. They are hassle free and keep everything clean and professional. maybe few dollars expensive than Godaddy but they don't put you through an advertising jungle when you try to buy something. They have a good name and big client base. They have stared offering web hosting services in early 2007 or late 2006. I think early days were bit a mess because they has some trouble with their hosting services. Some of their clients were not very impressed but some others stayed with them faithful. Now they seems providing a solid service and slowly growing bigger too. They probably have a 5000 - 15000 strong client base already not something you can compare with Godaddy or Hostgator but these guys are late boomers so should give them some credit.

Their cheapest web hosting package is $3.95 per month which is $47.40 for year. But unlike at Godaddy or Hostgator you have to pay annually. If you are willing to pay for 2 years then you get it for $3.45 per month. Good thing is you can host 5 domains in this basic package. at Godaddy and Hostgator you can only host single domain at their cheapest web hosting package. Also you get 25 GB RAID protected disk space and unlimited bandwidth like everywhere else these days. Also you get cPanel ! which don't get at Godaddy.com. NameCheap Hosting offer 14 day money back guarantee too. But always read the TOS / small print before buying. Always you should know what are their limits, when it comes to any web hosting provider.

Namecheap also have another 3 shared web hosting packages Professional Hosting ($5.95/m), Ultimate Hosting($9.95/m) and Business Expert Hosting($16.95/mo). I'm not going to put all details about these since these packages are not exactly cheap hosting. You can get decent VPS for $6 per month without cPanel. You can find more details about these packages from their web site. They do have another web sites specially for web hosting too. Which is web-hosting.com.

I think Namecheap cheap shared hosting package is pretty good for running a forum too, providing they wouldn't kick you out like one of those people runs cheap web hosting service in a reseller account. They are primarily a domain registration company. You are not going to get anything special for having both domain and hosting from same company. Also the common believe is do these 2 tasks in 2 separate companies rather than one place. This is because you will not have crisis same time in both domain names and your hosting account if you have these in different companies. Like Domains at Namecheap and Hosting at Hostgator.

Godaddy Shared Hosting with 50% Discount

Cheapest Web Hosting

If you are looking for cheap shared hosting service for your Forum or blog  you might be interested in this. Godaddy is offering Promo price for their web hosting packages. So Their Economy shared web hosting package should cost you only $35.88 for whole year ! Well I saw they had this 50% promo offer at their site but I thought we might able to get more from it. But it's not and this Godaddy promo offer last only till End of the July or they say so.( Well they always come up with another same type of offer soon after) I think you get one domain name free also with this cool Godaddy Promo offer. Try this Promo code for that,

 fbhst50

This is probably the cheapest Web Hosting offer you get from a Mega Web Hosting company at the moment. Hostgator hosting $66.72 for their lowest annual shared hosting plan. But you might able to find a code which will give you one month free. That's not cheap web hosting in my book. But they do offer you cPanel. This Godaddy promo offer is for those can't afford $66 for web hosting at the moment. I have seen talking angry about Godaddy hosting about I haven't had any trouble while I was using it.

Unfortunately I don't think this Godaddy discount code work for current web hosting users. If you want a cost reduction for your Godaddy web hosting renewals then try one of these renewal codes and you might some dollars saved. I'm not sure How long these codes will last and will be working but it's worth giving a  try.

gd3638pl - 32% Off

bacon3
gdbbren8
BB50HD5
gdbba776

30% Off Codes
BB2086D15

gd3626e

at least some of these Godaddy web hosting renewals promo codes should be working. Also you can try to combine these with your original 50% off one. Usually you can't use 2 codes together but there are rare times where you might get lucky. Something I do like about Godaddy is they always have some discount price for everything. You can always find cheaper solutions there. All you have to do is read carefully what they put in your plate. Yes. Before checkout from your cart make sure you have everything correct. Like 1 year or the time period you need (Godaddy automatically add 5 years to domain names. You have to remove it) Also the price and price after applying discount code. If your card has any other service you haven't pick. Make sure everything is in order. This will makes your life lot easy and less trouble.

Cheap Offshore web Hosting

Cheap Offshore web Hosting

Are you looking for Cheap Offshore web Hosting providers ? These days there is a demand for cheap offshore hosting mainly for SEO purpose. People have so many different opinion about Offshore web Hosting. The most common believe is Web Hosting providers who use web servers outside of United States is Offshore web hosting services. This is not exactly the truth. But the real meaning of Offshore web hosting is hosting that is in a country other than where an individual or business is located. So if you are located in USA then any provider who offer web hosting from severs out side of US would be offshore web hosting. But this is not exactly what these days people search as offshore web hosting. But bottom line is offshore web hosting is used by those who want a web hosting service beyond the legal reach of the authorities in the country of the individual or business whose web site is belong.

People want Offshore hosting so their web sites are less affected by DMCA notices. But this is not something work these days unless you use servers somewhere in Russia or Asia. Canada and UK do not taken as offshore hosting because both countries work close with American law So whatever illegal in USA is illegal in Canada and UK too. I think the most favorite offshore hosting location is Netherlands. Germany probably take second place as offshore hosting locations. Malaysia and Romania are another 2 popular locations.  In reality you can't use offshore hosting for anything illegal like warez or hacking. If they receive DMCA notice they have to ask client to shut down the site or remove related content. But another good use for offshore hosting is you can let people to access web sites faster. If you have a one web site for Germany and one for USA then people in Germany can access to the web site hosting in a German server faster than one in USA. This can be a big advantage for online store sites and also game servers.

Offshore hosting usually is not cheap as US based hosting. But still you can find cheap offshore hosting services. There are several reliable cheap offshore hosting services which offer VPS under $10 per month. You don't get managed hosting or cPanel for this cheap but you can manage. The biggest downside of cheap offshore hosting is these might have uptime problems. at least few years ago it was like that. Now connections, servers and everything has improved so can find better services.

Godaddy Shared Hosting

Cheap Web Hosting

Godaddy shared web hosting accounts do offer some great amount of resources for very low price. I have heard lots of people angry about Godaddy hosting for  various reasons. They are best known as a domain name registrar and probably the one offer cheapest domain name registration prices. Also they do offer several other paid services like email accounts, Web site builders and web hosting. Their web hosting service probably is their second bigger earner for them. Also probably one of the top 10 companies in Web hosting industry. Since they are a multinational company which probably own their own server farms you can be relay on their 100% uptime. Godaddy.com offers shared hosting as well as dedicated servers. They have 3 shared web hosting packages. Economy Hosting (2.99$ per month), Deluxe Hosting (4.49$ per month), Ultimate Hosting (7.49$ per month). These prices are valid only if you pay for annually. Godaddy Shared packages are cheap when compare with other big hosting companies.

Economy packages gives you unlimited bandwidth, can host 1 website, 100 GB disk space, 100 e-mail addresses and 10 data bases. This account is fine for small but active forum or blog. Godaddy shared hosting accounts can handle quite a heavy load without a problem.  With Deluxe package you get unlimited bandwidth and disk space and you can host upto 25 web sites. You can setup 500 email addresses and 25 data bases. with Ultimate package you get everything unlimited. Also premium DNS, SSL Certificates and Malware Scanner are included. Both Deluxe and Ultimate packages get  new customizable Mobile Site feature.

You can pick Linux or Window hosting for same price. But if you need PHP then better go for Linux. One downside of Godaddy Hosting is they don't use cPanel as hosting control panel. They have their own hosting control panel which is not impressive as cPanel. Bit slow and they always change the interface. They advertize you get 24/7 phone support which I haven't used but their ticket system can take upto 24 hours to reply. But they do reply within 24 hours. Their support is getting better. Now they do have a well developed knowledge base which is very helpful. You can find most of information you need from that then contacting a support person. Since they have their own Data Center you rarely see any down time. for the 3 years I had been with Godaddy I don't think there was more than 2 down times. Their servers are pretty fast comparing with other cheap web hosting services.

I used Godaddy shared hosting for about 3 years. Reason I moved out was because my forum grown too big for Their shared hosting accounts. I started with economy account and then upgraded to Deluxe and finally to Ultimate account. But finally they contacted me and ask me to upgrade to their VPS or move out from them. I don't know if they still offer vps but those days their vps were too expensive. So I moved to a managed VPS. I had good uptime and sites were running fine. Only once we had a problem. Their severs had a massive script injection attack which caused US to down all our sites and clean those manually. Apart from that mess I had a pretty good time there. I just wanted to keep my forum up and running I has no interest in all big features hosting control panels have. So it was fine to me.

So if you are looking for cheap hosting provider then you should check Godaddy web hosting service too. I don't say Godaddy shared hosting is not the best hosting out there. But if you have a forum or site which need an small vps then you might able to survive at Godaddy for a while. You can't expect more than this for $3 per month. If you need cPanel then try hostgator shared hosting. Their $4 per month (if you pay annually) shared hosting package offer cPanel. With Godaddy Promo codes you can get your lower price for your Godaddy hosting account. They have thousands of hosting clients with them and many of them are very happy with service they receive.

Cheap Shared Hosting For a Forum

Cheap Shared Hosting For a Forum

Here's my story. I do run 3 forums and 2 of those are pretty active. First year when I had around 100 active users or less it was all find with low end shared hosting around. Forums were not earning any money so I didn't want to goto something expensive. But second year was kinda of disaster.  Forum got way too bigger for cheap shared hosting accounts. Well at least for those cheap hosting packages you get for $1 per month. I was kicked out from 2 hosting providers. probably they were just having a reseller accounts since they did have cPanel. Someone with Cheap VPS wouldn't had able to afford it. My salvation came from Godaddy economy shared hosting package. That's till I ve found a good vps provider.

Forget about all the unlimited resources things. Try to chat with sales people of these before getting into these. Once you mention about having an active forum they will tell you their packages are not suited for you. Well might not the answer you want but it will save your time and little bit of money, maybe. Unlimited bandwidth and space really don't matter at all. CPU usage is the big problem. An active forum would have some big CPU load specially RAM usage etc. Also there will be so many sql connections would be open in same time which might be little hard for a small provider using reseller account. You won't get far with this. That would be the end of cheap shared hosting for you. I have seen people had to shut down forums because they can't afford to move to a bigger hosting package. Without finding couple of sponsors your forum will be doomed unless you are willing to pay from your pocket.

Because moving to an VPS (which is the best choice for a forum ) There could be one another stop. There are several Cheap Shared Hosting choice you can give a try. Well not exactly cheap shared hosting since these cost you around $5 per month. I'm talking about big Hosting companies like Godaddy and Hostgator. They do offer small shared hosting packages with loads of resources. They tend to let you run an active forum on their low-budget packages for a while since they can sustain it. But this won't be for ever. Once you started having active member base your only good option is an VPS. Sooner or later you will need one. There's no other way. There aren't everlasting Cheap Shared Hosting For a Forum. At least not for an active one.

So you need to start looking around for Cheap VPS provider. WHT forum is a good place to start. They do have offers section where providers post their special offers. You can find an cheap VPS under $10 but it will be an un-manage VPS. It means you will have to take care of all technical stuff. No cPanel you will to install one of those Free Hosting Panels by your self. So my advice is start this Cheap VPS hunt while you are still on your shared hosting account. Get one and start studying how to install and manage VPS. You can find all details and tutorials around internet and simple Google search will give you most of your answers. There are managed VPS packages but those start from $20 or above. But they would take care of everything and you will feel like you are on a shared hosting account but with more power.

All these things need money. When you are an owner of forum or several forums you need to start thinking about revenue from early stage of your forum. Unlike other sites a forum will need more resources soon if member base get bigger. Also it's really hard to earn money from PPC and Affiliate networks when it comes to web forums. You might need to find banner sponsors or those who willing to buy ad space form your site. So you can see running a forum long term is not a cheap task. You need have a soild plan from start. You probably need a Paypal account to receive money from sponsors and if you live in a country where Paypal doesn't allow you to receive money then you need some one else who can do it for you. Hard yes but all these things can be done. You will just a clear plan.

Cheap VPS Hosting vs Cheap Shared Hosting

Cheap VPS Hosting vs Cheap Shared Hosting

Sometimes when your web site become too much for a shared hosting provider. Never bother about those sayings like unlimited bandwidth and unlimited space. These are only Nice words nothing more. Imagine your site need 500 GB Bandwidth per month. You won't able to host a site with this kind of activity in a shared hosting account. This like this will need a Dedicated Server it self to handle such a load. Nobody can give unlimited resources. Read TOS of these web hosting services and you will find what are there "Limits". There won't be a difference between normal shared hosting account and unlimited shared hosting account. There's always  CPU percentage you can use and if you exceed this often provider gonna ask you to upgrade or move out. But there are a big difference between one guy Hosting company which offer you a cheap shared hosting package with unlimited resources and Big company which offers cheap shared hosting package with unlimited resource. These small hosting providers either using a reseller account or a cheap VPS. They won't able to do much about a site with heavy load. But big companies like Godaddy and Hosgator use Dedicated servers for host their shared hosting accounts. So you can last longer with one of these bigger hosting providers.

But sooner or later they will last you to upgrade. I have a forum which I maintain for one of my best friends. It's forum about Manga Artists and have around 500 active members. Once we got around 50 or so daily active users none of those cheap shared hosting providers could deal with our forum. We had to move to Cheap shared hosting package at Godaddy.com and those days paid $5 per month for it. We had a good time there for more than 2 years before trouble starts. The forum started getting more active members and finally Godaddy sent a mail asking ask to upgrade to one of their VPS or move out. Their VPS insanely expensive so we bought our first VPS.

There are unmanaged VPS and mangaed VPS. Managed VPS means they will take care of all technical stuff like installing the server, trouble shooting it and also upgrade software. Also they will fix thing if you mess things. It's just like shared hosting with more features and capacity but with bigger price tag. Managed VPS cost you over $18 per month at least depending on support and sever specs. Unmanaged VPS is much cheaper but they just give you an empty server box which need to be installed. You can buy a good unmangaed VPS from $5 to upwords. If you search bit you will able to find a cheap VPS which comes with decent support and features. Never go for those cheap VPS offers which comes with impractical prices like $1 per month of like that. Don't expect service to be same as one of those $20 VPS packages from reputed providers. Also uptime matters too. If you are going to use a VPS you should test it at least a month before moving your serious sites. Usually you might able to get one month free trial from these VPS providers. You can test the uptime, server speed, support and everything else before buying.

I learned all these by hard way. Bought couple of ultra cheap VPS when I was new to all these. Some were down most of the time and Some had zero support when I want help. So it is very important to read user reviews before going for an VPS. Price is not the biggest factor when it comes to VPS hosting.
