With this promo code I bought a 1GB Ram, 75 GB RAID-10, 4TB Monthly Bandwidth package for just $7.50 with one free IP address. Account creation is instant so I received server details right away in my mail. For VPN access you need to activate it login to VPS control panel.

There was a minor problem with IP address but it was sorted quickly after I opened a support ticket. Their support staff is very quick in respond and willing to help. It's not easy to find Low cost vps providers with fast support.

Brustnet Closing Down

Brustnet have been in hosting market for over 10 years and they were specialized in providing cheap VPS and dedicated server solutions. They had mixed reviews just like most of low cost VPS providers since there are only few Budget VPS providers like Iniz vps hosting can keep providing a really good service and keep all clients happy with less downtime.

Anyway Back to the topic 25th last month they send mails to all their clients except for their CO-Location clients about this sad news. They are terminating services and closing down on 25th July. No point of talking about seasons but the main thing is they are having serious financial problems and even sued by several companies.

So now the biggest problem is what all these poor Brustnet clients would do or where to movie ? I think there are many vps and dedicated server providers offering promo deals for them but finding a good hosting provider and also moving everything again is a really a pain.

It's not easy to find a good vps provider who can offer same price rage as Brustnet used provide but There are couple of good cheap vps hosting providers out there. They are really good providers and I have used them for years also there's KnownHost but their prices bit high since they are a high-end server provider. If you are a BrustNet client then make sure to take a full backup right away. You can't be sure when they will down their servers even though they have given time till 25th. Don't wait till last second.

cPanel for Windows Hosting FREE

When I made last post I told cPanel is for Linux hosting and can't use it for Windows hosting. Today I found cPanel do have a side project for Windows hosting too. It's called Enkompass and cPanel offer is one year free ! Also it looks very much like cPanel and has more of same basic features too. cPanel site says  Enkompass interface mirrors that of cPanel & WHM for Linux. Difference is feature which are incompatible with Windows are removed. But still Enkompass do have all the reseller and user account features from cPanel and WHM. For some reason they offer it totally free for one whole year. So you can use it and find if it works for you. Enkompass will feel like home for those who have used cPanel for years with Linux hosting.

At the moment most popular Windows Hosting control panel is Parallels Plesk Panel and and the Plesk license  for a single Windows server with Unlimited Domains cost you $39.99 per month and  When you pay for annual it cost you $425 (with 11% discount). This is why most cheap web hosting providers do not offer Windows Hosting. Only big hosting companies like Godaddy, Hostgator and DreamHost able to stay with Windows hosting market and even they can't provide it cheap. Enkompass will reduce your Windows Hosting cost probably in half also you get one whole year for free. I'm not sure it might be powerful as Plesk right now but they will make it good enough.

The panel has a manager for MySQL and another for MS SQL. Right now there are not so many features there but they will be keep adding. After all you get for one year free and so many things can happen in a year. They have a support forum and good documentation too. But my personal opinion is Enkompass has a long way to go, to catch up with Plesk. So if you use it you are not going get everything you get from cPanel or Plesk but remember you are getting this for free (at least one year). So you can use it for providing cheap Windows hosting or as testing platform for your self.

Cheap Windows Web Hosting

If you are looking for Cheap Windows Web Hosting but in a solid web hosting providers then Both Godaddy and Hostgator provide windows hosting. at Godaddy Both Windows Hosting and Linux Hosting are same price all you have to do it choice which you want while filling online forms. But at Hostgator Windows Hosting is expensive than Linux Hosting. The Basic personal plan cost you $8 per month if you pay by month and $7 per month if you pay annually. There are another couple of good Windows Hosting providers like ASP.net but even they are expensive. 

Unlike with Linux Hosting where most of the things are free and open source, You need to buy license every software in Windows Hosting. So it's a costly service for web hosting providers. Server license, SQL license and other small things. Microsoft never give anything for free. But  Some developers need Windows Hosting for .net frame based web sites and web applications. So they have to buy Windows web hosting even thought it's expensive. You need .net frame work and IIS web server to hosting these window based applications.

One of the biggest drawbacks in Windows Hosting is you can't use cPanel since it's written in PHP and made for Linux systems and My SQL. Also If you are running IIS then usually you can't run Apache or any other Linux / PHP based HTTP servers. Also Windows Hosting use My SQL or Oracle in high-end operations. No My SQL. So most common web applications like Wordpress,  Joomla or web forum scripts like VBulletin, SMF or myBB can't be run in windows Hosting because these are written in PHP. You need Linux Hosting for these.

For now when we talk about cheapest web hosting and Windows based hosting I think Godaddy is rank #1. They offer same price for both Windows and Linux packages and that's nice. There are lots of web hosting providers offer cheap Windows hosting but I'm not sure how they keep running their business with price under $5. Probably using resellers and I always prefer to use web hosting providers who use their own Data centers or dedicated servers. You don't get too many problems this way. Reason for most of cheap web hosting problems is these are run by providers who only has reseller accounts and they don't have a control over their servers. So they have to wait for server owners sort out things when there is problem with servers. This usually take long and make clients angry.
